                                                                              WHAT'S A CAR RALLYE?

A car rallye is an excercise in following instructions literally and precisely. It is not a race, except that you must finish by a specified time. A C-M gimmick rallye uses coursemarkers (CMs) along the route to score points for catching a "gimmick", which is merely a trick or cleverly worded instruction that causes you to take an action other than the obvious.

The best way to find out what rallying is all about is to try one, as there is a special class for 1st Time rallyists, who only compete against other 1st time rallyists.

Although the specific instructions for each rallye change, here are some illustrations of some gimmicks that might be used on a typical rallye.
                 INSTRUCTIONS

   B. Right at ALMOND

Sample Rallye: Start at the arrow and pretend you are traveling along the streets. Do the instructions in numerical order. For each instruction, do part A or part B, (not both) whichever comes first along the route. Travel as straight as possible between instructions. If the street you come to matches perfectly with the street named in the instruction part, then turn (right or left) as indicated. Remember which part you did to compare to the answers (found below). GOOD LUCK!
